Der HomePod war bislang keines der typischen Selbstläuferprodukte des iPhone-Herstellers. Mit der anstehenden zweiten Generation will Apple mehr HomePod-Anhänger gewinnen.

Auf den ersten Blick sieht der HomePod der 2. Generation genauso aus wie der der 1. Generation. Erst wenn man genauer hinschaut, gibt es einige feine Unterschiede im Design. Das auf der Oberseite liegende Display ist nun etwas in den Zylinder eingelassen. Das soll dazu führen, dass man weniger häufig unabsichtliche Aktionen durch Berührung auslöst. Das Display an sich ist größer geworden, es nimmt jetzt den gesamten Kreis auf der Oberseite ein. Nun ja, ein richtiges Display ist es nach wie vor nicht. Es gibt lediglich optisches Feedback in Form von Farben und Animationen wieder. Nicht wenige hatten sich für einen neuen HomePod ein echtes Display gewünscht, auf dem beispielsweise Antworten von Siri in Text- oder Grafikform dargestellt werden können.
