Second to Jonas Vingegaard at the 2023 Tour, during which he put up a formidable fight against the Dane before yielding on the slopes of the fearsome Col de la Loze, the UAE Team Emirates leader revealed a quality that he hadn’t previously had much opportunity to demonstrate: resilience.
