Farewell to a true mountain man

On 12 June this year Ken Wilson – climber, author, publisher and campaigner – sadly passed away after a long illness. Climbers around the globe have mourned his loss. His trilogy Hard Rock, Classic Rock and Extreme Rock are must-have volumes that no climber’s bookcase should be without. But hillwalkers too should pause to remember Ken. Alongside his climbing works was another iconic triptych, dedicated to great walking routes: Classic Walks, Wild Walks and Big Walks. Indeed, Ken’s contribution to outdoor literature was such that in 2015 he was awarded the Boardman Tasker Lifetime Achievement Award.
