“Crieff is where gentle meadows of the south meet the shaggy mountains of the Highlands edge...” Sgurr Alasdair is the highest peak on Skye and the highest peak on the Cuillin Ridge, and like all its neighbours along the ridge it is steep, rocky and Alpine in all aspects. The peaks of the Cuillin hold few options for walkers, with an overwhelming amount of high, angular terrain and an abundance of rock that shifts the balance well and truly towards climbing. To reach summits among these great peaks walkers have to be prepared to sneak in routes wherever a weakness lies, and be prepared to do a bit of scrambling to overcome the odd challenging obstacle.
