JEREMY ASHCROFT Trail’s mountaineering editor Jeremy has been climbing and walking for over 40 years and has worked on every issue of Trail. He’s set foot on all of Britain’s main summits and is busily working his way up all the Alpine 4000m peaks. His rucksack contents change quite frequently as he’s involved in testing gear for the mag; this is the current distillation of what works well for him on the hill. Soft shell For my mid layer I use soft shell every time (Black Diamond BDV pullover and Patagonia Guide pants) as they keep wind, snow and light rain off without overheating. Research For illustrations, articles and books I need to collect a lot of reference. My main tool is my iPad, on which I have apps for drawing, writing, filming and photography.…
