Great bottom end torque for a small displacement 140

Released in Australia by Lakeside Marine in March, the 140A is now Tohatsu’s most powerful home grown outboard and is an uprated version of the 115A reviewed in Trade A Boat, Issue 539. As 82 per cent of all outboards sold in Australia are 140HP or less, this new engine allows Tohatsu to grab more market share. And Tohatsu can rightly say that all of its outboards are still made in Japan, not France, Thailand and China as are some of the Japanese competition. After two of my three long term evaluation Chinese outboards failing due to massive fuel system gasket leakages and one of my Thai-made loan outboards suffering a similar fate, I can honestly say that if you buy a Japanese outboard, it should be made in Japan.…
