Goma, DR Congo Ebola spreads: Health officials in DR Congo have confirmed the first case of Ebola in the eastern city of Goma, a major transport hub that is home to more than one million people. Authorities have described the case as a potential “game changer” in the current outbreak, and have so far vaccinated around 30 people who’d come into contact with the victim – a pastor who was infected during a visit to the town of Butembo, one of the centres of the outbreak. On the bus back, he passed through three health checkpoints designed to stop the spread of the disease, but was only diagnosed once he reached Goma. He has since died.
