Only 38% of people are satisfied with their GP services, according to a survey taken late last year, down from 68% in 2019 – and the lowest level since the British Social Attitudes Survey began in 1983. Only 36% of people are satisfied with the way the NHS is run and performing overall, down 17 points since 2020, and the lowest level since 1997, while 41% are dissatisfied. The shift has occurred among people of all ages, income groups, sexes and party political affiliations.
Forty years on, one in four 18- to 34-year-olds in Britain have never heard of the Falklands War, and half do not know when it took place. One in ten in that age group think the war was sparked by the UK invading the islands.
