Thrilling end to 4 Nations Face-Off

From February 12 to February 20, hockey teams made up of NHL (National Hockey League) players representing the US, Canada, Finland, and Sweden competed in the first 4 Nations Face-Off tournament. The US and Canada, longtime rivals, made it to the final, which was held at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. It was a thrilling and dramatic game that went to overtime, where Canada won, 3–2. The 4 Nations Face-Off was created by the National Hockey League (NHL) and the NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA) to replace this year’s NHL All-Star Game. Because players represented their native countries, the competitions were more meaningful and intense than an exhibition-style All-Star game. The tournament was a hit among players and fans.
