Mona Lisa to get its own room

The Mona Lisa, considered to be the most famous painting in the world, will move to its own dedicated exhibition space at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, by 2031. Emmanuel Macron, the nation’s president, announced the plan on January 28, saying it will alleviate major crowding and long lines caused by the 25,000 visitors who view the painting each day. The Mona Lisa was painted by Leonardo da Vinci in the early 1500s. Known for its subject’s mysterious smile, it is currently displayed with dozens of other paintings in the museum’s largest gallery, the Salle des États.
