Dogs have a preferred paw

It’s common knowledge that most humans are either right- or left-handed, and it now seems that our canine friends might also possess a preferred paw. Researchers in the UK recently conducted the largest study ever done on paw preferences in dogs. The research team looked at data that had been collected from 17,901 dogs during the BBC news network’s “Test Your Pet” survey. In the study, owners placed a treat inside a tube so their pet had to reach inside to retrieve it. Each owner conducted the test three times and recorded which paw their dog used most often to get the treat.
