Teen campaigns for people who wear glasses.

For most of her life, 13-year-old Lowri Moore has worn glasses. She loves her glasses now, but this wasn’t always the case. “I definitely felt, growing up, a bit self-conscious,” she told The Week Junior. Lowri campaigns for people who wear glasses to be represented positively in the media. When she was nine, Lowri wrote to Disney about her wish to see a princess in glasses. Two years later Encanto was released, with the main character, Mirabel, wearing glasses. Lowri’s latest campaign is about emojis. There are 3,664 official emojis, yet the few that show people in glasses include a “nerd face”, a granny and a teacher. “We can’t really find an emoji that represents us,” says Lowri.
