The 1960s was a busy period for Queen Elizabeth II, both in terms of her family life and in her role as the monarch. When Prince Charles was 12 years old and Princess Anne was 10, the older siblings and their parents welcomed another brother into the world on 19 February 1960. Prince Andrew was the Queen’s third son, and was named after his paternal grandfather Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark. Then on 10 March 1964, a fourth child was born, Prince Edward, their youngest son. It was during these two later pregnancies that marked the only times the Queen did not perform the state opening of parliament during her reign.
