“Scar is played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, who is just a wonderful actor who brings his British accent and, I think, a bit of the Shakespearean cadence to [the role]. He brings a new take on that character. Jeremy Irons did a fantastic job [in the 1994 original], the character is a very scary villain; and with Chiwetel you have someone who’s doing something different but still evocative of the old version of Scar. Because of his background as an actor, he brings the feeling of a Shakespearean villain to bear.
