NHL players get the glory – and the hockey cards. But what about the people who run the league? Not as much glory – and not nearly as many hockey cards. But here are five times the league president – or commish – got cardboarded

FIVE HOCKEY CARDS OF NHL BOSSES WHILE HOCKEY CARDS HAVE occasionally pictured NHL coaches (see In the Cards on pg. 13), the league’s top executive almost never gets immortalized on cardboard. However, it has happened a few times. Here are hockey cards that feature four of the NHL’s past presidents, as well as the league’s current commissioner. 1. FRANK CALDER (NHL president from 1917 to 1943) 1992-96 Hockey Hall of Fame Legends of Hockey #36 Calder served for 26 years as the NHL’s first president, from the league’s inception in 1917 until his death in January 1943. Two awards are named in his honor: the Calder Memorial Trophy, given to the NHL’s top rookie, and the Calder Cup, awarded to the AHL’s playoff champion.
