OWNERSHIP JOHN W. HENRY JOHN W. HENRY isn’t a ghost. However, the founder and owner of Fenway Sports Group, who gained his wealth through the John W. Henry & Company Inc., marketing his commodities and futures trading management strategy, doesn’t have much of a presence with the Pittsburgh Penguins organization, which FSG purchased in December 2021. Henry, 75, and FSG also own MLB’s Boston Red Sox, soccer’s Liverpool FC, a 50-percent stake in NASCAR’s RFK Racing and, earlier this year, struck a $3-billion partnership with the PGA Tour. For a time earlier this year, Henry and FSG reportedly also had an interest in acquiring the NBA’s Boston Celtics to add to a portfolio that clearly is interested in having a strong sports footprint. Still, at least with the Penguins, Henry remains an elusive owner.…
