V. PREM WATSA, often referred to as Canada’s Warren Buffett, is the founder, chairman, CEO and controlling shareholder of Toronto-based Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd., and, in 2024, they became the sole owner of Peak Achievement Athletics, the parent of Bauer Hockey, Cascade Lacrosse and Maverik Lacrosse. I was the chairman and a founder of Performance Sports Group in 2008 when Performance acquired Bauer from Nike, followed by acquiring Mission Itech, Cascade and Maverik. In 2011, as chairman, I took Performance public on the Toronto Stock Exchange. I left the board in 2012 but remained one of the largest individual shareholders in Performance through 2015.
