BY MATT CARLSON PREDICTION | 8TH IN CENTRAL DESPITE THE ARRIVAL OF Connor Bedard, the 2023-24 season was a painful one in Chicago. The 18-year-old No. 1 overall pick in 2023 and eventual Calder Trophy winner delivered 22 goals and 61 points – along with some memorable plays – in 68 games. But the Blackhawks were thin on talent to begin with, then decimated by injuries. Taylor Hall, acquired to skate on Bedard’s wing, had season-ending ACL surgery in November, and it got worse from there. Even Bedard wasn’t exempt, missing 14 games with a broken jaw. The Hawks finished 31st with a 23-53-6 record. The loss total set a franchise record. Chicago’s 178 goals were fewest in the NHL. On the bright side, Chicago has plenty of terrific prospects, especially on defense.…
