MARK SCHEIFELE HAS A CHANCE TO SPEND HIS ENTIRE CAREER IN WINNIPEG – AND MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, LEAVE A LEGACY SIMILAR TO THAT OF HIS MENTOR AND JETS ICON DALE HAWERCHUK

EVERY SINGLE time he shows up for work at the Canada Life Centre or whatever they’re calling it these days, Mark Scheifele makes his way down Hargrave Street in downtown Winnipeg. When he stops at the traffic light at Graham Avenue before pulling into the players’ underground parking lot, he looks over to see a magnificent bronze statue of Dale Hawerchuk, which is right there on Dale Hawerchuk Way. It’s a 10-foot-high piece of work, 13 feet high if you include the base, depicting ‘Ducky’ carrying the puck in mid-stride, his left arm out and his right at the top of his stick.
