THE NEXT WAVE OF NHL FRESHMEN FEATURES DAZZLING TALENT UP FRONT AND A COUPLE OF GREAT GOALIES, TOO

THE NHL’S 2024-25 rookie class will be a mature one. We expect some fun things from Macklin Celebrini, but the No. 1 pick is the only lock from the 2024 draft class to go straight to The Show. A defenseman such as Artyom Levshunov or Sam Dickinson could break the mold, but it’s more likely we see them in 2025-26. Most of the 10 players on these pages have already seen some NHL action but not enough to squash their Calder Trophy eligibility. To that end, we’ve omitted impressive youngsters such as Simon Edvinsson (Detroit), Brandt Clarke (Los Angeles) and David Jiricek (Columbus), as they’ll officially enter 2024-25 as NHL sophomores, based on the Calder’s games-played rule.
