At Emmerdale, we are known for doing big explosions and car crashes and fights. Our viewers absolutely love them. But you can slip into relying on those to get viewers. And this has reminded us that we have an amazing writing team, a brilliant cast and a fantastic crew. With simple camera shots, two characters and no exciting locations you will still be drawn into these episodes. It is really important to show what lockdown is like. This is an important story to tell. But we didn’t want them all to be miserable and sad – they have moments of melancholy, moments of sadness, but also have really fun bits. One starts with Nicola furious because Jimmy has missed the wine delivery. That can feel like a massive big deal right…
