Show more detail across the image using a highly effective and easy to use formula in Photoshop

When you’re working with images of tiny subjects at a 1:1 ratio, detail quickly becomes much more important than in other types of images. The most obvious way to enhance detail is to use sharpening techniques such as High Pass sharpening, but as always Photoshop provides more than just one way to enhance images, with each technique providing a different result from the next. Let’s assume that the image you’ve taken has a perfect histogram and you’ve maintained detail from the shadows through to the highlights. Even though we have detail here, we can still lighten the shadows further to reveal more detail and soften the highlights to the same end using Shadows/Highlights within Photoshop.
