STAY CALM While Halloween festivities may be fun for humans, skittish cats or dogs can easily get worked up (and possibly become overprotective) by the sights and sounds of so many people. Before trick-or-treating begins, put your pet in a quiet room (or in its crate) with some treats and toys to keep it entertained. You may want to consider running a fan or turning on the radio to drown out any noises. Better yet, sit in your driveway or on the front porch and hand out the sweets to minimize the sound of knocking or the doorbell ringing. Or simply leave the bowl of candy out for kids to help themselves. If you’re going out for the evening, turn off your front porch light to indicate no one is home…
