There’s nothing wrong with black pepper and a pat of butter, but try these tempting twists on traditional mashed potatoes to find a new way to crave the Turkey-Day fave

INDIAN In ghee or butter, toast some cumin seeds and mustard seeds until they begin to pop. Add 1 diced green chile pepper and lots of minced garlic. Mix into the mashed potatoes. LEBANESE Stir in a little harissa, minced garlic, the zest and juice of a lemon, and minced parsley. POTATO-PALOOZA Top with some crushed sour cream and onion-flavored potato chips. CANADIAN Add fresh cheese curds and top with prepared gravy. SPINACH-ARTICHOKE Stir in prepared spinach and artichoke dip. Mashed Potatoes Place potatoes in a large saucepan; add water to cover. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium; cook, uncovered, until easily pierced with a fork, 20-25 minutes. Drain. Add remaining ingredients; mash until light and fluffy.…
