Where’s The True You?

Hi Take 5ers, I’m in a new relationship with a man I like but feel he’s often telling me what he thinks I want to hear, while hiding away his true self. For example, some of his stories don’t match up. He’d tell me something on our first few dates, then I’d bring up a similar story more recently, and suddenly his story changed to align with my views or experiences. I told him I needed my partner to be authentic and honest, and that it’s okay to have different views. I hoped this would help him to be himself. I find myself doubtful of most things he tells me, worrying if there’s something he’s lying about that I can’t see through. It only feels like little things now, but…
