PRISON HOUDINI Defending a mate in a pub brawl, John Massey attacked a bouncer with a baseball bat, then shot him pointblank. In 1975, Massey, 26, was sentenced to life with a minimum of 20 years for the murder of Charlie Higgins. But after 19 years in jail, Massey was told he wouldn’t be released due to bad behaviour.
