Unlike the northern Caribbean Islands, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines boast a mountainous landscape due to past volcanic activity. The islands provide several hundred miles of untarnished beaches and turquoise waters, as well as a veritable playground of different cultures and traditions, largely unaltered by tourist intrusion. Unrivalled as a destination for snorkelling and diving, the reefs around Canouan are a must. Onshore, the lush islands of the Grenadines are a hiker’s paradise. You can explore the ruins in Belair National Park in Carriacou or the sparkling waterfalls of Saint Vincent; climb to the summit of Mount Pleasant on the green island of Bequia or cool off with a swim at Carriacou’s Sandy Island.
