500GT, gross tonnage, is a limit to keep in mind when a 50-metre yacht is designed and built. If exceeded, everything becomes much more complicated. Let us see what this limit means, and how to succeed in staying below. This is not a widely known topic, something for insiders only. Yet the massive presence of 50-metre yachts, compared to the 60 or 70-metre ones, is undeniable. However massive the presence of such an exclusive item as superyachts can be. Why does this happen?
