MY ROOM... ABOUT ME I’m Vivienne Riley, 53, and I live with my son Charlie, 11, in a three-bedroom 1950s semidetached in Essex. We have been here for five years, and now that Charlie’s older, he was keen to be involved in updating his room. MY CHALLENGE While Charlie simply wanted a decor scheme that was more grown up, we also had to contend with a rather unusual and slightly awkward layout. The space was the result of an extension added by the previous owners, but it hadn’t been well thought through, so we knew it would be quite tricky.
