THE EVOLUTION OF THE HERO’S JOURNEY

For many fans of Star Wars, their familiarity with the Hero’s Journey comes from the Skywalker saga. When writing the tale that became A New Hope, George Lucas drew upon the work of Joseph Campbell, and this influence became widely known thanks to The Power of Myth, a 1988 Bill Moyers PBS miniseries and book, and the Smithsonian traveling exhibit, Star Wars: The Magic of Myth, during the decade that followed.
