I am often asked to clear feral pigeons out of farm buildings. Once the birds have found a way of entering a farm building they are quick to nest and the problem is rapidly compounded. The birds can cause considerable damage to farming equipment and grain storage and pose health hazards to humans because of the volume of faeces they create. Farm inspectors have serious concerns about pigeons roosting in the rafters of grain storage buildings, especially if the grain is destined for human consumption. No one wants pigeon poo flavoured foods. After a farmyard feral pigeon shoot I always wash my hands as soon as possible because pigeon faeces can make you very ill.
