Simulated gameshooting has grown in popularity over the years, with many estates offering days to Guns either as entertainment or to keep their eye in before the season starts. It can also be a good way for a newcomer to gameshooting to get used to shooting in company. I have started doing a few days on the Honeycombe shoot and, although life is never quiet for a keeper, I manage to squeeze a few days in between rearing and releasing my birds during the summer months. We try to run the day as closely as we can to a driven one during the season. The Guns meet at the lodge at 9.30am for coffee and pastries, have two drives, then stop for elevenses.
