UK votes to leave European Union COUNTRY GROUPS say it is vital to ensure rural businesses are not disadvantaged as the UK votes to leave the EU. Around 52 per cent of voters opted to leave the EU in last month’s referendum, prompting David Cameron to announce he will step down as Prime Minister before October. Rural groups have said no time should be wasted to make sure the government constructs new arrangements to benefit the industry.
