Roll over provision

How can I stop my cocker spaniel from flipping over on to her back when I approach her? It doesn’t matter if she’s been doing a sit-stay or if I’m just saying “hello”, she immediately rolls over. Fran says: Sometimes this behaviour is the dog trying to appease you and sometimes it’s fear. Quite often, though, it’s down to habit. To train your dog out of it shouldn’t take too long but will take a lot of consistent handling by you. Make sure your dog knows the “sit” command, and for the next couple of weeks only stroke her when she’s sitting; if she goes to flip over then simply step back and call her to you and tell her to sit.
