Leaf vs coil for triggers

I have heard that leaf springs are better than coil springs on a trigger mechanism. Is that true and if so why? Ian says: As a rule, locks with leaf springs tend to provide crisper trigger-pulls and faster lock time. However, coil springs can work when weakened and damaged, whereas when a leaf spring reaches the end of its life, it will have a complete failure and cease to function.
