That’s your Lotte

We are at the stage already where the diminutive Lotte is developing her skills daily. Last week I was out with her on the lead and must have covered miles letting her follow every deer scent possible. She follows tracks wherever they are. On arriving at a spot near the wood, she had her nose in the air as soon as she left the car. I ignored that because the first area she was showing interest in was unshootable, still covered in bracken with no safe backstops. We entered the wood and again up went her nose, and she firmly led me in the direction she wanted. We stopped and she let out a light growl only for me to look around to see, not 40m from us, a buck…
