Recently, on The Deercast, our YouTube channel, we released a video extolling the virtues of fixed-power scopes. Both Harry (my co-host ) and I love fixed-power scopes. The reason we like them so much is partly because of their simplicity, partly because of the weight savings you can achieve with them, but mainly because of the superior quality of the glass you get by opting for a more basic scope. Counter-intuitively, by buying something with less frills you are actually getting more for your money when it comes to the glass. Judging by the feedback we received from the video it would appear that quite a lot of people agree and are also fans of fixed-power optics.
