Strict bird flu measures in place across the country

Strict biosecurity measures have been ordered by the Government after a surge in avian influenza cases across the UK. As we go to press there is no suggestion there is an imminent threat to the shooting season, but this could change if the outbreak takes a greater hold. Defra announced the implementation of an avian influenza prevention zone (AIPZ) across England, Scotland and Wales after a number of bird flu cases had been detected, both in the wild and on commercial premises. Where a case has been confirmed, disease control zones are put in place. The AIPZ means that all bird-keepers must enact strict measures to help protect their flocks.
