HAVE A MINDFUL HOLIDAY

I HAVE MIXED FEELINGS about the holidays. Thanksgiving evokes gratitude and invites us to appreciate the good in our lives. It’s in part how we embody an abundance consciousness and I love that there’s an entire holiday to remind us. And the food: turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potato casserole, pumpkin pie. Insert a chef’s kiss emoji. Christmas, perhaps the ultimate crossover event, reeks of celebration and revelation: virtually every building festooned with lights and colors; intricately—and sometimes clumsily—wrapped gifts raising hope and anticipation; ornately decorated trees standing beside creches, an amalgamation of pagan roots and Christian appropriation; tempers giving way to temperance, scowls to smiles.
