When Heather and her family moved from their 1950s home into a new granny flat at the rear of the property, they realised how much better life can be in a thermally comfortable dwelling. They are keen to upgrade the old house to match, and add space and flexibility for multi-generational living. Local architect Matt Thitchener has some suggestions on how best to go about it.
