Ellipsis Earth: using drones to identify, map, and track litter

Stray plastic bags. Fast-food cups and lids. Cigarette butts. Litter is literally everywhere we look, from highways to beaches to uninhabited islands. The first step in any cleanup job? Assessing the situation, and that’s where UK-based startup Ellipsis Earth comes in: using drones to map trash. Drones equipped with cameras survey the area, and Ellipsis’ computer software and image recognition can identify the type of litter and the density of the debris so they can determine the best solution to remove the trash.
