There’s evidence that leaving the bike on the sidestand for long periods might cause extra valvetrain wear on cold starts as the oil drains away from the right hand end of the cams, so use the centrestand. The carbs on earlier models are beginning to cause problems, possibly related to ethanol in modern fuel.
