I’ve not had much luck with other balaclavas, but this one does what they all claim to do. It’s soft on the inside, tougher on the outside, keeps your temperature stable, reduces chafing and more or less disappears while you’re wearing it. That’s £16.99 very well spent. Much the same can be said of the other items in the Tornado Advance range. The forward-facing Defender fabric used in all these garments does a great job of keeping out cold air. This is evident on the trousers (£39.99), which let you ride on a cold autumn day in Kevlar jeans. Defender is also water-resistant and breathable.
