Yamaha’s MT family has been a huge success. It really took off with the launch of the naked MT-09 in 2013, followed two years later by the half-faired MT-09 Tracer. However, a few months ago it lost the MT tag and was renamed the Tracer 900. The 847cc three-cylinder engine delivers plenty of engaging, usable drive for riding fast or slow, but it’s plain to see that some money has been saved on other areas the build, with a good finish but not a premium one. The suspension in particular is often criticised, but it’s adjustable and can be set up well to suit riders. There’s a range of luggage available, including small semi-rigid panniers (£458.75) or a 39L top box (£251.70) - though Yamaha don’t recommend fitting both at the same…
