Finding bargain-basement guns has become somewhat challenging the past few years. Millions of new gun owners have been buying everything in sight, from firearms to ammunition to reloading components. Yet every now and then you get lucky. While looking over a batch of pistols at the local Cabela’s in Reno, Nevada, one stood out: a Makarov with a nice blued finish. The grips looked odd, but after picking it up and handling the gun, it became clear that it was an East German Makarov. It had an AO date code meaning that it was made in 1962; it was imported by Century Arms 25 to 30 years ago.
