Exxact Robotics (part of the Exel Group) has come a long way with the autonomous Traxx straddle tractor since building the prototype in 2021. Initially powered by a gas engine, the first diesel was developed in 2023. The company used this year’s show to preview a wider 1.4m machine in addition to the current 1.16m model. The wider machine has a stronger main frame and beefed-up safety bumpers on all four steered wheels. The steering is electric, but there are no electric drives on the Traxx. Power comes from a 66hp Hatz diesel, which powers a pump to supply oil to the wheel motors. Draining 3-4l/hr from the 110l fuel tank, the Traxx can work for up to 35 hours.
