This issue’s photoshoot took place at the home of empty nesters Butch and Lydia Overby This 3-story Colonial 4-Square was built in 1902 by a local doctor. He sold it two years later, and eventually it was purchased by a family who kept it for three generations. The Overby’s bought the house from them in 2013. It took nine months of renovating and remodeling; Butch and Lydia kept much of the original materials, such as trim, fireplaces, and flooring. The ornate doorknobs were made circa 1890. The kitchen and bathrooms, however, were gutted and completely redone. Lydia describes her home as “modern vintage.” She loves old things, and at the same time appreciates a modern spin.
