OUR SPIN ON “NESTLED IN THE WOODS”

I fell in love with Kay Harmon’s “Nestled in the Woods” quilt. Love at first sight. I plan to keep this one at my little cabin in the woods in the West Virginia mountains. This is a large project and I got a late start, so I decided to order the kit from Sew Graceful Quilting, where Kay lends her creative energy and assistance. (See our Dropping In column for more on Sew Graceful.) The kit provided all the fabric needed, except for the backing. The fabric is an assortment of scrumptious homespuns from Diamond Textiles. I cut everything according to the pattern. Then, when it came time to applique the trees, I realized that somehow I only cut those pieces from three fabrics, which didn’t provide enough variety and interest. So…
