It’s cheap to run and mostly delivers great prints, but the refillable Maxify GX5050 is still a little disappointing

Enter Canon’s Maxify GX5050, a single-function colour printer, designed to churn out pages of high quality, low-cost prints. It comes with a basic two-line mono display, support for wireless networks, and enough ink to print a claimed 6,000 black or 14,000 colour pages. This printer uses Canon’s MegaTank system. It’s a little more complex than Epson’s rival EcoTank, as you have to fill the tanks with ink and fit the print heads. It’s still foolproof, however, and once set up, your only concern will be to top up the tanks after every few thousand pages. Buy official Canon ink and the running costs will be around…
