Mass-market vehicle-rental giant Hertz has developed a bit of a reputation among petrolheads. Mention a ‘Hertz Mustang’ to anyone with more than a passing interest in vehicles, and they’re sure to understand the rare black-and-gold ‘Rent-A-Racer’ Shelby GT350H sport cars specially commissioned by Hertz. That’s just one of many examples in the Hertz performance stables throughout the years, although Mustangs have featured prominently. For the 100th anniversary of the Hertz brand, the company is doing things a little differently — turning to GM for its latest adrenaline hit, in the form of a special-edition 2018 Chev Corvette Z06.
